An old headline rears its ugly head again this week. The company that now owns the remnants of The SCO Group (whose claim to fame was going bankrupt in suing Linux distro makers until their dying breath), Xinuos, has decided to try this strategy out for itself in hopes of a different outcome. Xinuos is suing IBM and Red Hat for using Linux.
Talk about bringing back ancient memories of trying to keep up with a new and essential thing to me back in the early 2000s: Linux.

It would appear the clock has run out for all the Heptio folks to get their payouts from the VMware acquisition. A few Kubernetes contributors are jumping ship from VMware. Four in a little over a week is nothing short of a sign, though. These aren’t the kinds of folks who like to hang out in big corporate orgs and feel like cogs in the machine. They want to feel like they’re making an impact and see the value in their work.

I spent the week in Austin at AnsibleFest. If you ever want to experience impostor syndrome put yourself in a room full of Ansible’s core contributors. It was exciting and terrifying every time I opened my mouth. But, for someone with Marketing in their title, the folks at the Contributor Conference were very embracing. The event itself was a whirlwind of various duties to include but not limited to MC, door duty at a bar, helping a developer understand Ansible internals, talking to customers, and trying to lighten the load on all the folks that put AnsibleFest together.
